Summer Camp Service Day- online counselor meeting

Let's make this a meaningful experience for the campers!  In order to do that, we need you to be pumped, energetic and engaging.  We need to help the youth understand the joy of service- of being the face of Christ to another.

There will be some adults going with your groups who are only volunteering on this day.  Please be sure to thank them for their time and help them feel appreciated!

In the morning, we will be going FAST.  We are trying to get breakfast served as fast as possible.  While you are eating breakfast, we will go immediately into the session (skit team will need to eat breakfast first followed by the group that is going to Lawson).  After the session we will start making lunches.  IT IS SUPER IMPORTANT THAT YOU MAKE SURE ALL YOUR CAMPERS MAKE A LUNCH AND PUT IT IN THE COOLER.  Get together and make a system to check and be sure all campers put their lunch in YOUR cooler.

The Lawson group will leave first as we are trying to get them there by 10:30.  The next group to leave is Frisco Family Services followed by North Park, then City Church.  The group going the Samaritan Inn will do a few things at St. Gabriel, eat their lunches and then leave at 12:30.  All groups will return to St. Gabriel between 4:00 and 4:30.

Here are the places that you are going (keep reading after you read this list):

Lawson Early Childhood Center: Red, Purple, Silver and Pink

City Church: Yellow, Orange, CITs, and Black

Frisco Family Services: Blue and Lime Green

Samaritan Inn: Teal

North Park Health and Rehab: White

And this is what you will be doing:

Lawson Early Childhood Center:  You will be running activity stations for Pre-school students.  Before you arrive, you will pair yourselves off- one to two campers per counselor.  You need to wear closed-toed shoes, and bring a refillable water bottle.

City Church:  You will be working in a community garden, painting, serving a lunch and running a field day for the youth of City Church.  You will be working with the youth of City church the entire time- we think, meaning that they will also be helping with the garden and painting.  This will depend upon the youth who arrive on this day from City Church.  Please wear closed-toed shoes, SUNSCREEN, bug spray and a hat.  Bring a refillable water bottle labeled with your name.

Frisco Family Services:  You will be working in three different places in a rotation: the community garden, the food pantry, and the resale store.  Since you are working outside in the garden, you will need to wear sunscreen, bug spray, closed toed shoes and a hat.  You need to bring a refillable water bottle.

Samaritan Inn:  You will be starting your day at St. Gabriel doing some much needed projects on our property.  At 12:30, you will travel to the Samaritan Inn and sort food in their pantry.  You MUST WEAR CLOSED TOED SHOES.  Also, wear sunscreen and bring a refillable water bottle.

North Park Health and Rehab:  This facility serves the aging and those with disabilities who can not live on their own.  You will be working with these residents- playing games, doing crafts and keeping them company.  They rarely receive visitors so this is a BIG TREAT for them.  All of your work is indoors.  YOu will need to bring a refillable water bottle.

You may want to bring a small bag for all your things (sunscreen, bug spray, hats, water bottles)

If you have any questions tonight, feel free to contact Lori 214-886-9470.  Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom!  You ROCK!
